Solid Crafts is one of the 2 pillars of the not for profit organisation Solid. www.solidinternational.be
Instagram: Solid Crafts
Solid Crafts focuses on exclusive handicrafts & fair employment for women and donates the profits of this social business to support-programs for children or young girls.
We are convinced that cooperation between socially responsible companies and social organisations is an effective and sustainable way of combatting poverty in the long term.
In Peru, we have already proven that pooling resources in this way works: there, we set up a successful handknitting workshop where the ladies earn a fair wage and all the profit goes towards supporting women, teenage mothers and their children.
Our Belgian team is responsible for seeking out and supporting customers, which has already given rise to some excellent collaborative projects with large and small brands and retailers.
A years ago we started setting up the same concept in India:
Paces Crafts is our handweaving and handknitting unit in the city of Ranchi in the State of Jharkhand .With Paces crafts we aim to provide sustainable employment for poor women living in the city of Ranchi. We believe that by offering an honest income to the young women they will less probably emigrate to the big cities in search of a better destiny where they can end up in situations of abuse or extreme poverty. All profits of this new venture will be used to finance the Jaan Foundation in their support towards rescuing girls out of domestic slavery and all kinds of abuses.
