Handknitted fair-trade alpaca blanket - model Marsipan
This lovely handmade piece has been skilfully made by local Peruvian women from Ayacucho, a poor region in the Andean highlands.
Your handmade Peruvian alpaca plaid is made entirely of sustainable, environmentally-friendly and animal-friendly materials. Alpaca wool is one of the finest luxury fibres. Alpaca texture is soft and cosy, it is warm, yet light. The fibre is naturally hypoallergenic as it doesn’t contain lanolin. Compared to regular wool the fibre is smooth and avoids itching or skin irritations. Other benefits include water repellence and odour reduction. It is a high quality, environmentally friendly and natural renewable resource. It is extremely strong but fine at the same time and has three times the insulating capacity compared to sheep’s wool products.
The handknitted alpaca blanket Marsipan has great cables on top. The yarn used for this throw is Laja: 43% Baby alpaca /43% wool/ 14% polyamide; 1/3nm. Dimensions are 130 cm x 156 cm.
