WFTO
As a certified member, Solid Peru commits to all 10 WFTO (World Fair Trade Organization) principles.
Our handknitting workshop is independently audited, and the entire business operation is regularly inspected to confirm our adherence to WFTO membership requirements. The World Fair Trade Label, created by the World Fair Trade Organization (WFTO), signifies that the creation and distribution of the product is commensurate with their mission.
All the products made in our knitting and crocheting workshop in Peru employ this label to show our commitment to the ideal of a sustainable, transparent and fair economy. Profits support the producers and their communities.
By using the skills of local women (not children!), the sale of these products help them fight against poverty and their disadvantaged status. Benefitting the most vulnerable and helping them become self-sustaining. In this way, societal value gains preference over sheer economic value.
Comercio Justo – Fair Trade
The National Commission for the Promotion of Peru for Export and Tourism developed an additional national certificate concerning fair trade which has been obtained also to Solids knitting workshop in Ayacucho, Peru
